The hurtling rock passed about 26,500 miles above the southern Atlantic Ocean at 2:08 p.m. PST.
It was the closest recorded encounter between Earth and an asteroid.
Build a missile defense system. Not a missile defense system against other humans. But, instead get all humans to work together to build a missile defense system against approaching meteors or other threats.
I thought I felt something wizzing by,
Something streaking through the sky,
In fact, such an asteroid contact,
Would have had quite an impact.
The closest encounter I've ever had,
Makes ya realize,
Life ain't so bad,
Makes ya recognize,
And, perhaps even morality?
Maybe instead of fighting each other,
... instead of killing sister and brother,
We should aim our sights toward space,
Get together and try to save this place?
That was a close call for us all,
