Chiquita Declares Force Majeur on
CINCINNATI, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Banana giant Chiquita
Brands International Inc. (NYSE:CQB) said
Monday it has declared a force majeur in accordance
with Honduran law, indicating that it has suspended all work due to conditions beyond its control.
The company is continued to provide wages and benefits to its 7,700 employees in the region,
said Michael Sims, vice president of investor relations.
Bravo... a company that has a heart. A company who "steps to the
plate" right from the start. What other company would continue to
pay the workers? Not only that, but what other company wouldn't
be crying to the governments for their own relief?
